MOTIF DESCRIPTION
The motif consists of a figure with a large head and large rounded “horns”, where the body is viewed in profile with the head facing. There are long snakelike forms on both sides of the head and body. All the figures are placed in the same direction along the border but sometimes turned to the right, sometimes to the left. The figures on the little border are turned towards what would be the actual mantle.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE
Ground weave: warp and weft in undyed ? yellow cotton. Embroidery in camelid hair of red, yellow, dark blue and green; fringe in the same yarns as the embroidery and secured with cross-knit loop stitch. Technique: embroidery on plain weave cloth in linear style.
