Black and red eagle mantle 1932.16.0168
The motif consists of a double eagle, repeated in several different sizes within and around itself. The pattern repeats follow on from each other, all turned in the same direction – apart from in the little border, which is attached at right angles to the main border.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE
Ground weave: warp and weft in dark blue. Border: embroidery in camelid fibre yarn, bight red in possibly two shades. Technique: the mantle consists of 2 woven sections sewn together. Embroidery in linear style.
