Eagle poncho 1935.32.0068
MOTIF DESCRIPTION
The pattern consists of “double-headed eagles”, with three decreasing in size inverted within each other. There is a little cat on each of the largest wings. An S-shape on its side lies under each of the largest beaks. Cf.:1935.32.0176.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE
Ground weave: warp and weft in dark greenish black cotton. Embroidery: camelid fibre in red, dark blue, yellow and green. Technique: 2 lengths of plain weave sewn together, leaving a gap for the neck opening, the latter trimmed with cross-knit loop stitch. A little ca 1 cm fringe all round the poncho by the embroidery was attached with cross-knit loop stitch. Embroidered in linear style.
