Fish borders 1935.32.0083ab
Diagonal pattern consisting of S-shaped small double “snakes” with wedge shapes on one side. Placed tight against each other, they form a complete pattern. The colour combination brings the diagonals out clearly.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE
Ground weave: warp and weft in reddish brown. Embroidery: camelid fibre in the following shades: blueish grey ground, yellow, red, purple, dark green, whitish yellow, black and white. Fringe: the same in part as for the embroidery. Technique: plain weave cloth. Embroidered in a variation of linear style. The fringe was made separately on a starter thread and attached with 3 rows of cross-knit loop stitch. There are two separate borders, probably cut from a whole mantle.
