The motif consists of geometrically composed cats with long zig-zag shaped “snakes” emerging from the head of the largest cat
. The patterning consists entirely of figures within figures, i.e . cats within cats in many different sizes

MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE
Ground weave: warp and weft in dark blue cotton. Embroidery: camelid fibre in yellow, red, green and dark blue. Technique: embroidery on plain weave cloth, a variation of the so-called linear style. Fringe running down one long side, attached with cross-knit loop stitch. The fringe is ca 2 cm long. The border was cut off at either end and then sewn onto 1935.32.0130.
